ATV Safety Institute’s Message

New public service announcements star Kyle and Chris Massey.
January 12, 2010

US - Just in time for the winter ATV riding season, three new public service announcements from the ATV Safety Institute combine key messages about training, protective gear and parental responsibility along with some youthful star power. Brothers Kyle and Christopher Massey, plus their mother, Angel, cover many of the golden rules of ATV riding in PSAs that are now available online and on DVD.

Many young ATV riders and families will recognize Kyle Massey, 18, from his lead role in "Cory in the House" and also on "That's So Raven," both sitcoms from the Disney Channel. Christopher Massey, 19, starred on Nickelodeon's "Zoey 101" and is an Emmy nominee. The brothers are both winners of Young Artist Awards and they have recorded several songs. All of the family members are longtime ATV riders.

"The Massey PSAs are strong reminders of some of our key safety rules and we're very excited about the family's participation," said Paul Vitrano, executive vice president of the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America. "They bring tremendous energy and some great humor to the serious topic of ATV safety. These PSAs are fun, informative, and will encourage families everywhere to look into the ASI RiderCourse. We thank all the Masseys for providing their valuable services to the cause of ATV safety."

The three PSAs can be viewed and downloaded from the ASI's Web site at www.atvsafety.org. DVD copies are available for a nominal fee. In one of the videos, Kyle Massey talks about properly sized youth ATVs. He and Christopher Massey cover the golden rules of ATV riding in another PSA. And Angel Massey, working with Kyle, reviews all the right safety gear in the longest of the PSAs.

"Here at home, the whole family likes to ride ATVs," Kyle Massey says on the videos. "But they are not toys. You are the parent and you hold the key. Ride safe, ride smart and have fun."

The All-Terrain Vehicle Safety Institute develops rider training programs and promotes the safe and responsible use of ATVs. The ASI works to reduce crashes and injuries resulting from improper ATV use. Formed in 1988, the ASI is a not-for-profit division of the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America®.
